below the 16MB boundary can be accessed by 24-bit or
31-bit addressing. Addresses on or above the 16MB
boundary can be accessed only by 31-bit addressing.

specifications.
1988 X.25 call
A call that conforms to the 1988 X.25 protocol
specifications.

per sector and 26 sectors per track.
2 B-channel transfer feature
See Integrated Services Digital Network two
B-channel transfer.
2KP transaction
A SET transaction in which the cardholder messages
are unsigned and two key pairs (one for the merchant
and one for the payment gateway) are used for
encryption.
2PKDP
See Two-Party Key Distribution Protocol.
3174 Peer Communications Network
A function that provides peer-to-peer communication
for programmable workstations connected to an IBM
3174 Control Unit through IBM 3270 communication
adapters using coaxial cable or telephone
twisted-pair wire. This function is achieved through
the following: (a) 3174 Peer Communications Network
network-driver-interface-specification (NDIS)
medium-access-control (MAC) driver, and (b) 3174
Peer Communications Network program running on the
IBM 3174 Control Unit.
31-bit storage addressing
The storage address structure available in an MVS/XA
operating system.
3270 application
An application on a host system accessed by a 3270
terminal device. Typically, 3270 applications run
under CICS or IMS.
3270 attention field
A field on a display screen that contains a null, a
space, or an ampersand in the first position. The
field can be selected using the Cursor Select key,
which causes data to be sent to the host system.
3270 data stream
The commands, control codes, orders, attributes, and
data or structured fields for 3270 devices that are
transmitted between an application program and a
terminal. Data being transferred from or to an
allocated primary or tertiary device, or to the host
system, as a continuous stream of data and 3270
Information Display System control elements in
character form.
3270 device emulation
The OS/400 support that allows a system to appear as
a 3274 Control Unit in a BSC multipoint network or
an SNA network.
3270 display emulation
The function of OS/400 3270 device emulation support
that converts 3270 data streams intended for a 3278
display station into data streams that can be
recognized by a display station attached to the
system.
3270 emulation
The use of software that enables a client to emulate
an IBM 3270 display station or printer, and to use
the functions of an IBM host system.
3270 host application
An application on the IBM System/370, System/390, or
iSeries that interacts with terminals supporting the
3270 data stream.
3270 printer emulation
The function of OS/400 3270 device emulation support
that converts 3270, DSC, and SCS data streams
intended for a 328X printer into data streams that
can be recognized by a printer attached to the
system.
3270 server
A function of DirectTalk which provides a software
interface between DirectTalk and IBM System/370,
System/390, or iSeries architecture business
applications that interact with terminals supporting
the 3270 data stream. See also custom server.
3270 service project
In 3270 terminal service development, resources are
organized hierarchically under a 3270 terminal
service project. The 3270 terminal service project
appears as a folder in the workbench. It is
recommended that each 3270 terminal service being
developed have its own project folder. A 3270
terminal service project contains the following
resources: a systems classpath file that indicates
the classpath for a Java project. This file is
generated automatically when you create a service
project; a systems .ws-providers file that lists the
service providers currently installed on your system.
This file is automatically generated when you create
a service project; one terminal file that contains
the information necessary to connect to the host
system; multiple .screen files (with XSD extensions)
that contain the screen definition information; and
one or more dialog files dialog that you record and
save. The dialog file describes where a web service
is deployed and what operations the service provides.
3270 service recorder
A 3270 terminal service development tool that
enables a user to do the following: establish a
connection to a host system, display a 3270
application within the edit area of the 3270
terminal service recorder, interact with the 3270
application in real time by entering data and
pressing PF keys, import screens from a 3270
application by saving the screen definition in the
workbench, record a dialog of interactions with the
3270 application, and play back a dialog so that the
sequence of screens recorded in the dialog can be
validated.
370 mode
In CICS/VSE, An operation mode of the supervisor (generated
with MODE=370) of a VSE system. Such a supervisor
supports multiple virtual address spaces and
requires a processor of the System/370 and /390
architecture.
3G
See third generation.
3GL
See third generation language.
3KP transaction
A SET transaction in which the cardholder messages
are unsigned and three key pairs (one for the
merchant, one for the payment gateway, and one for
the cardholder) are used for encryption.
3-state check box
A square box with associated text that represents a
choice. Unlike a regular check box, which has only
two states (selected and deselected), a 3-state
check box has three states (selected, deselected,
and unavailable). The unavailable state is displayed
as a halftone and denotes that the 3-state check box
cannot be selected.
400/REXX
See REXX/400.
512-byte format
A format for diskette 1 diskettes with 512 bytes per
sector and 8 sectors per track.
5250 display
Any display device that uses the 5250 data stream.
See also Programming Development Manager.
5250 emulation
Any one of many licensed programs that allow a
personal computer to perform like a 5250 display
station or printer and to use the functions of an
i5/OS operating system.
5250 pass-through
See display station pass-through.
5290 display
Any display station from the 5290 Display System.
5ESS
(1) The ISDN protocol implemented on the 5ESS
switch, providing 23 B-channels and a D-channel over
a T1 trunk.
(2) A Lucent Technologies switch.
6309 Digital Trunk Quad Adapter
See Digital Trunk Quad Adapter.
6310 Digital Trunk Extended Adapter
See Digital Trunk Extended Adapter.
